Kerala is taking a major step toward strengthening India's growing space industry with the development of Kerala Spacepark (K-Space) at Pallippuram in Thiruvananthapuram. Developed by the Government of Kerala, the project aims to support private space companies, satellite manufacturers, startups, and research institutions while positioning the state as a leading destination for space technology and innovation.
Construction has commenced at the K-Space campus in Technocity, Pallippuram, marking a significant milestone in Kerala's vision of becoming a global hub for aerospace, space technology, and allied defence industries. Spread across approximately 20 acres, the industrial park will feature a 2 lakh sq. ft. facility housing a Common Facility Centre (CFC) and a Research and Development Centre (RDC), both expected to be operational by January 2028.
The CFC will provide shared infrastructure and advanced facilities for businesses and startups, reducing operational costs and encouraging collaboration. The RDC will support research, product development, prototyping, and industry-academia partnerships to accelerate innovation.
Kerala Spacepark aligns with the State government's vision of transforming Thiruvananthapuram into a Knowledge and Space Technology Hub under the Southern Kerala Economic Corridor. Its proximity to Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC), and the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) creates an ideal ecosystem for research, advanced manufacturing, and technology-driven enterprises.
Supported by a ₹241.3 crore NABARD loan, the project has established collaborations with ISRO units and private industry partners. Once completed, Kerala Spacepark will support the four key segments of the space ecosystem; launch vehicles, satellites, ground systems, and space applications. Additional campuses planned at Valiamala and Veli further strengthen Kerala's long-term vision of building a globally competitive aerospace and space technology ecosystem, generating high-skilled employment, attracting investments, and accelerating the growth of India's private space sector.
