Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple is one of the most important religious sites in India. Dating back to the 8th century, the temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, depicted in the Anantashayana (reclining) posture. It is one of the revered 108 Divya Desams mentioned in ancient Vaishnavite texts.
The temple gained global attention due to its underground vaults, which hold immense treasures, making it one of the wealthiest religious institutions in the world. In 1750, King Marthanda Varma placed the Travancore kingdom under the rule of the deity, and since then, the royal family has served as caretakers of the temple.
