Trivandrum Zoo is a scenic wildlife destination featuring a natural lake surrounded by lush, wooded landscapes in the heart of Thiruvananthapuram. The serene environment supports around 93 species of free-roaming birds, including several migratory species that visit seasonally. Along with birds, the zoo is home to diverse smaller wildlife such as butterflies, dragonflies, damselflies, ants, beetles, and spiders, making it a rich ecological space.
The zoo also houses more than 100 species of exotic and native plants that enhance its natural charm and provide a refreshing ambience for visitors. A specially designated Butterfly Garden, planted with host and nectar species, serves as a live conservation area where visitors can observe and study nearly 120 species of butterflies in a vibrant, natural setting.
