The 18th International Documentary & Short Film Festival of Kerala (IDSFFK) will take place in Trivandrum from September 25 to 30, 2026. Organised by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, the festival provides a platform for documentary and short film culture while bringing filmmakers and audiences together for screenings, discussions and exchanges.
The 2026 edition explores the theme “TRACES”, focusing on the relationship between landscapes, living beings and cinema. Drawing inspiration from natural topographies and contour lines, the theme connects rivers, human histories and vulnerable species with the role of cinema in documenting ecological and human realities. The festival invites audiences to experience cinema as a way of witnessing, remembering and defending shared landscapes.
